Just as research has identified specific evidence-based programs and practices for correctional supervision and treatment, it has also identified ways to successfully implement these programs and practices. This document presents a framework for successfully implementing the NPRC’s ten practice targets. Implementation science is the scientific study of methods to promote and facilitate the systematic incorporation and integration of research findings and evidence-based practices into routine practice to improve the quality and effectiveness of services. Based on lessons learned from implementation science, this resource highlights key considerations for implementing—and sustaining—the practice targets over time. The document also discusses what works and doesn’t work in implementation, highlighting both implementation challenges particular to paroling authorities and examples of successful implementation.
