Aaron Butler
Program Manager, Racial Equity
Aaron Butler is a Program Manager for Racial Equity at CEPP, where he supports the integration of racial equity and community engagement into CEPP’s projects. Mr. Butler’s responsibilities include creating and editing resources for criminal justice stakeholders and community partners, delivering technical assistance, developing curricula, and conducting relevant research.
Mr. Butler is a seasoned attorney and a staunch advocate for social justice. His work focuses on dismantling systemic injustices within the legal system and ensuring equitable treatment of marginalized communities. Mr. Butler has broad experience in promoting equity, inclusion, and fairness through various roles and organizations. Before joining CEPP, Mr. Butler worked as an Assistant Federal Defender in the Capital Habeas Unit for the Western District of Texas, advocating for death-sentenced people in Texas state and federal courts. He holds a JD from Tulane Law School and a BA in international relations from Morehouse College.
