Gender Equity Work at CEPP

The Latest from CEPP October 2023

Gender inequality and discrimination persist in many areas of society, including in the criminal justice system. Over the past four decades, the rate of women entering the system has outpaced that of men. Further, LGBTQ+ people are overrepresented at every stage in the criminal justice system. Despite these realities, few correctional or community supervision programs are designed to meet the specific needs of women and nonbinary people.

Through its National Resource Center on Justice-Involved Women (NRCJIW), CEPP promotes, advocates for, and supports jurisdictions in adopting gender-responsive and trauma-informed policies, practices, and programs.
