Project
Gender-Informed Practices for Carlton County, Minnesota

Overview
CEPP’s National Resource Center on Justice-Involved Women (NRCJIW) researched gender-informed policies and practices for Carlton County, Minnesota, to identify ways to create more positive outcomes for justice-involved women there.
Our Approach
Carlton County is working to introduce gender- and trauma-informed policies and practices in a new facility they are constructing for women. NRCJIW reviewed the available research to identify models that demonstrate positive outcomes for justice-involved women in jail and community corrections settings. NRCJIW then prepared a report and presented major findings to Carlton County staff and service providers.
The Impact
This project will help inform Carlton County’s staff training, programming, development of community partnerships, and other practices that have demonstrated positive outcomes for incarcerated women transitioning to the community.
